Summary	"On the obverse is a mounted Indian in war bonnet, carrying a spear. Above the horseman are the words, 'INDIAN WARS,' and at the bottom is a buffalo skull at the center of a semicircle of arrowheads. The reverse shows an eagle with wings outspread, standing on a trophy composed of a cannon, crossed flags, spears, and Indian shield, a quiver of arrows, a Cuban machete, and a Sulu kris (bolo knife). Below are the words 'FOR SERVICE.' The whole is encircled by the words 'UNITED STATES ARMY' at the top and thirteen stars below. The ribbon is deep red with black stripes 1/4 inch from each side." - Kerrigan, p. 158.
